Projects

Here are some of the projects we have completed in and around Central Bucks County. We love what we do and strive for quality results. We can provide general home repairs and maintenance, and complete General Contracting and Remodeling Services.

Plaster Ceiling Repair | Erwinna, Pa.

This plaster ceiling had suffered from a bit of moisture damage. All loose and peeling material was removed. Next, a combination of fasteners, reinforcing mediums, adhesives and plaster was utilized to stabilize the area and rebuild the plaster base coat. Then, the area was blended into the adjacent surfaces with multiple coats of a proprietary spackling mixture. Once this was cured, we applied a coat of heavy primer/sealer. Finally, two coats of high-quality ceiling paint were applied. The final step of the job: clean-up. We made every effort to make it look like we weren’t even there.

Kitchen Remodel | Doylestown, Pa.

Before this kitchen would come to be, structural elements needed to be relocated. The homeowners wanted a wide open kitchen with lots of room to entertain and host holiday get togethers for a large family. Architects plans and building permits ensure all tradesmen are on the same page. Load bearing walls were relocated and structural beams installed to accommodate the custom work. A powder room was also relocated. Plumbing, HVAC, electrical, were all replaced by our team of local craftsmen. The custom hand built cabinetry was made right here in Doylestown! Tile, insulation, water treatment system, granite, stainless steel, lighting, all installed with professional care to enhance the space.

Railing & Stair Repair | Ottsville, Pa.

Some of the cedar wood posts and rail sections of this outdoor stairway and balcony had deteriorated from exposure to the elements. We disassembled the sections as needed and replaced rotten wood with new. The new posts were fitted with code compliant galvanized steel safety brackets and fasteners. Caulking, filling, sanding, and three coats of solid stain were applied to complete the job. The most important detail to ensure the longevity of the wood is to seal the end grain of all pieces before they are assembled. Not many would take the time to do this, we do!

Master Bedroom Suite Renovation | Chalfont, Pa.

This renovation project involved expanding the master bedroom suite into the attic above the existing garages. An established working relationship with a local Architect insured all that was to be built meets or exceeds building codes. Architectural plans were submitted to the township Building Department for approval and permits were issued. We prepared the new space by removing some existing structural elements and installing new tongue and groove engineered plywood sub-floor and new dimensional framing. The main load bearing walls of the second floor hall were shifted to align the existing hallway with the hall in the new space. Main structural elements were re-worked and repaired. The new hallway included a nook fitted with shelving to function as a library. Closed cell polyurethane foam insulation was sprayed into the ceiling, exterior walls and floor bays by a local professional. Also included in this project was a complete renovation of the master bathroom which included replacing the existing water supply and drain pipes. Two large walk in closets and a workout room rounded out the project. A new window was added at the end of the hallway to let in natural light and provide egress. Taormina Home Services provided the trade skills including plumbing, electrical and drywall. We installed lighting, plumbing fixtures, new duct work for the HVAC system, room ventilation and cabinets.

Bathroom Renovation | Buckingham, Pa.

This bathroom renovation included replacing all the plumbing supply and drain pipes, electrical wiring, lighting, wallboard, insulation, flooring, absolutely everything. New features included heated ceramic tile floor, l.e.d. lighting, custom local made wooden cabinets, lighted mirror cabinet with anti fog, custom tile and counter top. Grab bars are fastened directly to the building framing for safety and stability.

Custom Building | Doylestown, Pa.

This custom IPE wood deck replaced an ailing cedar deck. The support structure was upgraded and improved. Modern railings were installed and integrated lighting completed the project.

Remodeling Project | Doylestown, Pa

This was a complete exterior remodel. The homeowners wanted to update the ailing cedar siding, improved energy efficiency and livability. The roofing and exterior cladding was removed. All of the inferior foam board sheathing was removed and replaced with structural plywood. Existing fiberglass insulation was removed and replaced with a combination of Mineral Wool and Spray Foam insulating materials for advanced performance. All windows and entry doors were replaced with high efficiency fenestration. Copper flashing was installed for durability. New roofing materials installed. New Fiber Cement siding and trim installed. A dormer was added over the Master Bath to increase the natural light in the space for a dramatic effect.

Home Repairs | New Hope, Pennsylvania

For quite some time, water had slowly been infiltrating into the building envelope causing rot and mildew. As a result, we needed to remove the damaged elements and replace some structural lumber, rim joists, sheathing, insulation, and siding. New flashing was installed. Next, the siding and trim received new primer and paint.

Bridge replacement and driveway overhaul | Tinicum Twp. Pa.

We were contracted to replace this ailing driveway bridge over an active creek. The blacktop driveway was also deteriorating and needed updating and repair. Corroding steel members, rotting wooden railings and deck surface, all added up to a major overhaul. These projects allows our tradespeople to shine. As the General Contractor, we coordinated the work of all trades involved and interacted with the relevant authorities to insure permits and approvals were in place. We deliver quality, lasting results that will endure for years to come.

Electrical Upgrade | Buckingham Township, Pa.

Electrical equipment installations and upgrades Over the years a circuit breaker panel had been asked to work harder than it was designed to. Overloaded with too many ‘piggy back’ breakers it had become obsolete. Taormina Home Services installed a new main panel and a sub-panel as well to adequately handle the electrical demand. Equipment and fixtures could now have proper phase power supplied. An added benefit; when you open the cover, new breaker switches are easily identified. Also, the complete system has built in surge protection. New grounding wire and grounding rod were installed. Inspection was done by an independent service. We also supplied generator power during the upgrade to keep essential equipment running.

Windows and Doors | North Wales, Pennsylvania

We were contracted to replace poor quality and aged original windows in this home. Some extra hands were enlisted to help with the large scale of these units. Custom built windows with extra features were specified for this job. The new windows were built to exacting specifications and installed by craftsmen who do not overlook the details. The interior and exterior preparation, modifications and finishing were completed with minimal disruption to the occupants. Once work is underway, we assess the existing conditions related to the project, inform the owner if things are amiss and allow time to make corrections. We do not allow inadequate conditions to be covered over just for the sake of getting things done with.

Masonry Project | Doylestown Borough

These steps suffered the ravages of storms, sun and freezing rain. The brick treads were loose and unsafe, as were the railings. The old masonry was removed down to the footings so a new structure could be built. The rotted wooden framing elements of the house were replaced and covered with metal flashing, then sealed with bituminous flashing tape and covered with a double layer of asphaltic felt to insulate from the cementitious structure. Solid stone treads and brick matching the original were chosen for the new steps. New railings installed by a local Bucks County firm are the final element. Professional results by professional craftsman.

Concrete Step Renovation | Buckingham Township

We can provide a creative approach to achieve positive results with minimal cost. We could have torn out these stairs to the front entry and replaced them entirely. For a fraction of that cost we re-set the slabs, stabilized them and added a decorative touch with building brick.

A couple of flower pots later and you have home improvement!

Door Leak | Holland, Pa.

An unexplained leak around balcony doors caused rot and mildew.

  • Step 1 – Locate the point of entry where the water infiltrated. In this case, it was not near the door.
  • Step 2 – Clean, repair and re-seal.
  • Step 3 – Replace rotted wood trim with weatherproof materials.

Professional craftsmanship and quality products and materials sourced from local professional supply houses insure long lasting results.

Attic Insulation | Chalfont, Pennsylvania

Adding a simple thing such as an attic access hatch can open up a dark world. Poorly sealed and uninsulated access panels can cost an untold amount in lost heating and cooling dollars. DETAILS MATTER! Neoprene rubber seals as well as structural elements are used for durability. I can tell you that this hatch will last, and the trim and area of ceiling around the hatch will not suffer damage. Skimping on quality to save cents will only cost more dollars. How often do you think about your attic hatch?… Exactly!  Leaking conditioned air from your home into the attic wastes money and resources.

After an access hatch is installed, you will quickly find out how well or how poorly your attic is insulated. I was originally called to this home to find out why the upstairs rooms were sweltering hot in summer and polar cold in winter. After gaining access to the attic, it was discovered that the attic venting was blocked by improperly installed insulation. Also, there was too little insulation to do an adequate job of keeping the living space at a comfortable temperature. These issues were addressed and corrected.

The hand-made panel was constructed with quality materials. Quality materials sourced from local professional supply houses insures long lasting service from even the simplest of assemblies.

Masonry Project | New Britain, Pa.

We were contracted to add this paved walkway and steps to replace and improve obsolete wood and brick steps. A solid crushed stone base with integrated drainage is set as a foundation for the new work.
